Hi, I’m Dana Jo!
For the context of this post, I’m probably best described as a creative person from the Great Falls area in Montana. In 2013, I moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and married an Air Force Officer. The adventure continues today in Dayton, Ohio. Being a military spouse is not without its challenges, but for me, it’s been awesome so far.
While I have many creative passions, my current focus is on quilting and sewing. I started sewing when I was 8 or 9, and spent my 4-H years building my skills. Mostly I’m quilting right now, but I’ve sewn a lot with wool, and I have kind of an unconventional fascination with denim. To that end, DJ’s House of Denim was launched in 2015, and as a brand, its focus continues to slowly grow. For now, this website is its home and mine on the Internet.
I have also been writing songs for over twenty years. My mostly- acoustic music has a lot of country and folk influences, but it has some elements of rock as well. Sources of inspiration include home, family, relationships…and the general kicking of [ass]. And the daily grind. And vehicles that are not new. In 2012, one of my dreams came true with the release of my debut EP, “Driven,” which is available for download on CDBaby, Amazon, and iTunes. Hard copies can be purchased at DJ’s House of Denim on Etsy. More of my music can be found on YouTube and Soundcloud.
I’m an accountant by day, bringing a little different perspective to my approach to the arts. I think it gives me a nice balance between logic and chaos, and allows me to see areas where I can help other creators on the business side of things.
Thanks for stopping by!
